I wish I could thank you twice, Copernicus. This time the flash took. Apparently my device's filesystem was more b0rken than I thought.

First thing I'm installing is backupmenu, then I will dig through this thread and see what I need to do. Thanks to everyone who contributed.

I'm back in business.
