I wish I had your problems... Ten meters radius is the largest distance between me and one of my neighbours. Considering that some of them are smoking, it's difficult to be not envious of your place. But then, it likely has its own problems? Automobiles, noise?..
By the way, how is it that you are a student, and yet, you have a spacious place where you can put a WiFi-router on roof, and do not fear any interference?.. Campus where you are the only WiFi-router-owner-admin?..

It should.

So now will the n900 or other devices will be able to connect to them from said distances? As I think the n900 definately needs its transmitter to be capable to transmit 300 meters for two way communication? Or I just need to recive the signals like fm radio does SO WHAT THE N900s transmitter capable of
N900 WiFi chip is capable of either 10mW or 100mW power, depending on your settings in 'Internet Connections'. There is also separate setting for power saving - most likely, related to protocol of communication with the router.
You could carry a Cantenna attached to N900, for extra signal gain, but it would be conspicuous, uncomfortable (rotating it to face the router), and I don't know the laws on WiFi external antennae for mobile devices.

Best wishes.
