This is the error I get when I try to send via the
gmail smtp server (very useful since it works - if
it works - anywhere in the world):

SASL(-4): no mechanism available: No 
worthy mechs found authentication not supported,
My kmail gmail smtp settings are identical to my laptops's,
which can send mail via gmail no problem.

Maybe kmail was built without sasl support? But yes, I can
send mail from home via my isp's server.
