My opinion is that the problem is in the chip design and/or software. Sometimes my N810 takes >5 minutes to get a fix even with clear unobstructed skies. Once a fix is obtained, signal strength is great, so the antenna is fine.
It looks like N810 doesn't store GPS almanac data, requiring a cold fix almost every single time.
BTW, I can swear my GPS could get a quicker fix with OS2008 beta. Anyone else notice worse GPS performance under the latest OS2008?
