Yes, but the point raised was whether or not the OS is still supported, not whether or not the OS has been radically improv^W bloated with new features. I'd rather not have the update if it's going to slow down the device.

Not really. There's the Fremantle rebased over Debian project which shouldn't have a significant impact on performance.
