Hi All,
I have problem with email client on the N900. I was happily collecting and sending email on my device using my suppliers data connection. Yesterday, I noticed that all outgoing mail would go from Waiting to Sending to Failed.
Works fine from my broadband connection over WiFi. But almost always fails using my providers data connection. I have Gmail set up and outgoing mail works a treat, as well as Zen Internet also. So I don't believe that the problem is with the email client, modest.
Email provider: Demon Internet
Mobile phone provider: Vodafone UK.
I checked the email settings and APN etc as well as spamhaus to see if any of the IP addresses or smtp domain name name had been block. Everything was ok.
Spoke to Demon and Vodafone and they were not really helpful.
Are there any logs that I can look at that capture the details of of the outgoing mail transfer only.
I saw a thread about running modest in logging mode but the output was far too verbose. Is there a better way of doing this?
What I am looking for is information in a log that confirms successful connection to Demons smtp server and the reason that the email fails to send. I know that it is not my user account and password because, if they were wrong, you would get an error in the mail client stating that.
Vodafone think that it is a blocked port by Demon but either are able and unwilling to look any further at it.
Thanks in advance.
