Perhaps some do. But two years ago my N9 - from Sweden - took 5 days from shipping to delivery in the UK. So the reality is probably on average somewhere between those 2. Say 3 days.
Depends completely on the carrier and method used. The likes of FedEx are perfectly capable of intra-EU 1 day, going to the local post office during Christmas rush would be another story.
