I inserted the SD card as instructed in the little folded up user guide, and it seems to work fine. But what the heck am I supposed to do with the other card, the teeny little one?

If your n800 is like mine, the SD card that came with it is actually NOT a card, but an "Micro-SD to SD" adapter card that allows you to use the micro-SD card they provided. You put the little one in the bigger one, then the bigger one goes into one of the two SD card slots on the n800 (either internal slot or external slot). If you do that, and the device recognizes the new memory, you should be able to see the extra memory card in the "File Manager" application.

I have no idea why Nokia shipped a micro-SD card with the n800 rather than a standard SD card. Perhaps they had an overstock of the smaller cards on hand.
