Thanks for the quick reply. Since I'm not fluent in xterm or ssh, I chose your first method and reflashed my N800. (Kind of a pain) but I followed your directions and Canola now runs. (I don't see Maemo and Maemo Extras in my Application catalog...should I?)
In any event, doesn't seem to detect any media so far. It says "No items found". I haven't been able to find any setup menu's. I tried rebooting as suggested in a different thread but so far nothing.
