I was able to get the script connecting to my linux laptop once I changed the PAN_ROLE to NAP from GN so I am very pleased.

I am using SuSE 10.3 on a tosh tecra - the latter needed a toshiba_acpi patch applying to allow me to turn bluetooth on.

I still haven't found out how to use the osso status bar stuff and add a script in OS2008.

--edit--
I added the gconf line to the script to make a DEFAULT connection type, and then networking works fine. I had to add some magic to my linux file server in the ifup.d directory to kick off dhcp on the bnep0 interface, and another script in ifdown.d to kill that dhcp instance off when bnep0 goes away.

so, when I run the script it connects, I then go to the wifi wotsit at the top of the page, select a connection, choose DEFAULT, the n800 established a PAN connection to the fileserver (which is running pand listen) which kicks off dhcpd on bnep0, the n800 gets a dhcp lease and so everything is working!

I've found, from my zaurus usage, that bluetooth saves a lot of power compared to wifi. One problem is that if I disconnect wifi, and connect bluetooth pan, the n800 will reconnect over wifi later, it'd be nice to stop that!
