I've been meaning to start a separate thread about this for a while, but since I never got around that and this thread seems more appropriate, so here goes...
Free and open source Game Boy Color emulator
!
N900/Fremantle has
great
support for gaming and various console emulators, and Javispedro's DrNokSnes is outright legendary! But the only Game Boy emulator I've been able to find is the same that's listed on the wiki page (linked above): Marat Fayzullin's VGB, which is proprietary software.
If technically feasible, this could even be done as an enhancement to the pre-existing gpSP app, since the Game Boy Advance (which is what gpSP emulates) is able to work with Game Boy Color games (but not with original Game Boy games, whereas the Game Boy Color understands those, too -- complicated!).
I've done some digging and found
gnuboy
, a free and open source Game Boy emulator that's been
ported
to various mobile platforms, from Windows CE to Android and Symbian, but not to Maemo -- yet.
Would there be an experienced developer who'd be willing to tackle this? I'd love to be able to play some Game Boy Color games, such as older Pokémon games, on my N900.
