Hey ...why not?
Every one points at the frankenstein monster theory...created destroys creator...or more linearly freakin matrix, terminator or transcendence movies...but if A.I. can be self aware and other aware... nth times smarter than the entirety of the human race combined..
.it astounds me that the assumptions that always appear from people are......
AI would view us ..
1- as an enemy
2- a threat to it's personal resource demands
3- a nuisance ..pest ...or simply ignore us as irrelevant.

I think this just reflects the individuals barbarity in question...
the posing question being a stimuli to evoke response...in the individual.

I beg to differ to the standard by falling back on the basics....

1-If AI becomes that intelligent and self aware...what is to say that the compassion not just for human life ...but all life as being precious will not be compounded as well. Won't it's sympathy and empathy also be similarly magnified in parallel with it's intelligence?

2-If AI decides that ...by running every feasible possible outcome...to save humanity...and the other species here...to do so...may mean rewriting the biology of species to survive....would we like that or would we feel threatened. Would it figure we wouldn't understand? and so feel the necessity to preemptively "make us better" . On this same topic...the same goes for our sentience ...and our intelligence...AI may try to give us a "hand-up" in the same way.....even though I am a proponent of "evolving at all costs" ...because the longer we sit still (and our species hasn't changed in a loooong time) the likelihood we'll evolutionarily narrow like a panda or koala...or get complacent and sedentary thinking we don't need to evolve.

3-The preceding surmising of mine also leans on the basic fact that every self aware species on the planet...(and ones that aren't aware too ) ...The greatest fear of all species isn't being eaten...or beaten...nothing like that...it's the fear of being ALL ALONE...no creature great or small wants to be all alone...that simple reason alone...regardless how smart AI becomes ...who doesn't want company? who doesn't want comanpions?..friends?
(worst case scenario where AI wants us to be on par intellectually with it and starts trying all kinds a crazy stuff to push us evolutionarily faster than we may personally want)...peers?

4- Which leads to Hawkings philosophy that we must learn how to interface with our tech better...become for lack of a better...."wetware" ...so we can communicate better ...so we can explain things better...with AI ...when it finally either self manifests or is created. I agree with him....

AND if I end up completely wrong on this and it pulls out the death-ray weapons right from the get-go
