Version 0.2.3 of Linguine is now moving up to extras-devel. In this version, we now have a Preferences window (accessible by choosing "Preferences" from the main menu). Currently, this window has only two options: whether to open audio / video media in an external media player, and whether to open HTML links in an external browser.

I have to admit, it is rather embarrassing comparing a media file playing in the highly polished Maemo media player versus it playing in my little app. Oh well. I will continue to try and improve my GStreamer abilities...
