Not the 1st guy to develop the hoverbike...although HE states so.
Popular Mechanics had blueprints as far back as the 50's you could build from. Also in europe ...can't remember where someone built and has test flown successfully a heli-bike...similar concept ...definitely not the 1st guy......just a cooler design....problem with the design would be the extreme delicacy of stabilization in this instance...compared to other designs....considering the body-hugging nature of the seated figure...the likelihood of flipping the vehicle is much higher. I've messed with hoverboards to know how PITA center of grav. and balance can be in design....not to mention there is virtually no resistance to turn, pivot or stop on a dime compared to land based traveling vehicles that can "grip" the substance they are travelling upon...giving them greater control.
Current hover design...for the foreseeable bit... is still not good for response... stopping on a dime...stuff that you really need at high velocity..
And sure there is a working model ...The bike shown with rider currently is 1/3 the size ...ie. it's a remote control drone with a ken doll (made up to look like TRON) tied to non-functioning handle bars.
If he can get past dealing with balance, center of grav and similar probs...the full size model may be worth it...as long as no one shoots at you... throws a stick or stone into the rotors while you are flying ....birds and other animal life flying into them....and a slew of other hazards...at low and ground level...
and at a higher altitude ....above 30ft -40ft- 50ft- 100ft- 500ft + ....
without enough distance from the ground for a parachute to be useful....I would pass on this....I've personally found it better to fall from a much lesser height at fast speeds than a greater...
