As a matter of fact yes, I was indoors but GPS was locked. Most English houses are two stories (floors). Downstairs with the kitchen and the living room and upstairs with the bathroom and bedrooms. I was in the bedroom. I should also mention that most English houses have paper-thin roofs, posing no barrier whatsoever to radio waves (as well as providing next to no thermal insulation)

Even if GPS were not locked, the location info was set to "city level". So coarse coords from AGPS would have sufficed.

enable location widget, make sure it shows the correct place, then enable "account status location" and verify if it shows the correct status message
I do not have the location widget. Got rid of it years ago, along with most other widgets. I do, however, have GPSJinni, which is where I got my coordinates from. It also told me my altitude was 65 metres, which sounds about right.

I will conduct more experiments later tonight when my N900 comes off the charger. (I am typing this on the Jolla and boy, does the on-screen keyboard suck compared to tbe real thing. I mean, no cursor keys. Ouch! Now I see why so many people do not bother correcting spelling mistakes. Going back without cursor keys is a royal PITA.)
