I was reading a tutorial for safe connection when using public wifi hotspots in Full Circle Magazine issue n°37 http://fullcirclemagazine.org/issue-37/
the tutorial is in Command&Conquer section.

It shows how to connect to your ssh server, so all the data is encrypted and the public wifi is used just as link to your home server.

all traffic forwarded to port 8080 with

ssh -D 8080 your_username@your_server_ip
Btw, in the tutorial they suggest to configure a SOCKS proxy in Firefox, but N900 browser is different

so,what to do? can we just go to the N900 Settings->Network Settings->Connections-> choose the wifi hotspot connection->Modify and in Advanced, choose: Use proxy?
