Anyone who has one of those $50 Apple video-out cables for the iPhone is probably the kind of person who will get easily frustrated by the tablets.
Thats a fair way of looking at it. If the iPod came in a form factor similar to the N810 I'd likely skip over it. I won't lie, I expect a $400 device to provide polished and intuitive software.

That said, I tend to dig a bit deep with my devices and I have recently restored my iPhone to keep it nice and clean. The IT will let me mess around with unstable stuff, ScummVM/DOSbox, and keep my IM connected all the time.

I always like to have a little "sandbox" device that I wreck and the tablets are great for that. It will probably end up getting replaced when some decent intel MIDs come out but I'll always have the iPhone in my pocket. Before now, it was the 770, N800, the Asus EEE. Ebay makes the world go 'round.
