Anyway, back on the topic at hand. Yes, sometimes the updates in Red Pill mode will go OK, but I (and others) have had them fail rather catastrophically in the past. As the packages being updated change every so often, there's no way to guarantee success, so, in my opinion, it's better to recommend strongly against something that may necessitate harsh recovery procedures while providing (seemingly) little or no added features or bugfixes, than to throw out a Buyer-Beware and say that it could work.

But, since lacking complete information does suck:

It may or may not work for you depending on what packages are available at the time, you may or may not end up in a reboot loop. So, Buyer-Beware, attempt at your own risk, don't expect anything major for the updates, though.
