hm...
well you could put the scan into a paint / graphic editor to play with it
for kicks...without altering / damaging the original.
Fact is the human eye looking at the human face naturally hunts for symmetrical and asymmetrical characteristics or "flaws" ..and either sees them and knows exactly what is "on" or "off" about the subject immediately because they know what to look for and why..otherwise the observer doesn't know the "why"

There are exact proportions for the human face ...and you as an artist just "know" when you are off.
The math of it is that the spacing 'tween the eyes is proportional to everything else..nose length and width..mouth..chin...brow...cheekbone.

With your rose model ...
the eyes need a little more depth...just a bit...a deeper hint in the corners..and ever so slight pouch (best word I can think of at the mo.) above and below the eyeball (orbit) to convey the illusion there is a spherical object (eyeball) underneath the skin.

The cheeks below the cheekbone need depth to project the concept there is a cheekbone above and thereby enhance a slight hinting of a jawbone line below.

The length of her nose coupled with the space beneath nose to upper lip to lower lip to chin is just barely "out".
Shortening the nose as well the space above the upper lip and giving her more space under her lower lip will proportion her out better and give her a chin which is currently past the "weak chin" and heading towards "no chin"

Because she has a rose 'tween her teeth...there should be some show of musculature in the creasing at the corners of her mouth...at least a little...it is the physics of expression with a common set of muscles and an object..a rose stem clenched in the teeth. Even clenching a pencil or pen would elicit a visible creasing of skin at the corner of the mouth ...forget a rose. Your model is showing a completely relaxed face as if there was no object clenched in the teeth.

If you play with a copy of it ...you don't risk damaging the original and you can work with it...improve upon.. it's good for study.

It's not that the other doesn't look real enough...
all the other needs is more directed light source applied to give the sense of depth on the skin...which is quickly remedied ...really cosmetic.
The foundation...the 'bones" of the black-haired beauty are better.. your proportions here are pretty much perfect.
I think it the better of the two.
A little shadow and depth and it would instantaneously obvious it is the better... to the blind even
