Dave, when a company gives a specific delivery date such as 13 October, you can rest assured that it will be delivered on that date. The employees will be sucked dry, work 14 hours shitfs without paid overtime and it will be delivered full of bugs and will have to be pulled back the day after the release and fixed, but it will be delivered on the announced date.

When a company gives a vague delivery date such as Q3 (or "monthly updates"), rest assured that the most optimistic translation means the end of that period. More likely the end of the next period. So do not expect Q3/2015 to mean 1st July, expect it to mean 31st December.

This is not just Jolla, it is everybody. Jolla is just very far from "unlike" in this regard.
