I think Zombies are possible, but not the type people think. And it could go two ways:

1) Supernatural
Something like demons/body-snatcher infect humans and take over their bodies. Human soul is expelled and replaced. The new soul isn't as sophisticated, and acts like soldier ants.

2) Rabies-like
People get infected with a microbe or prion (most likely a virus). It causes people to get deranged and violent. The infected assault other infected and non-infected people (and mirrors). Until the infection passes over or they die. And they can die like a regular person: blood-loss being the most prominent.


With that all said, the only thing more dangerous than a Zombie is a Human. Who can think, plan, improvise and kill you more efficiently. And the only thing more dangerous than that is a Human who is skilled and trained in those ways, ie a Soldier.

I mean if you pit 20 packs of wolves (each with 6 members), how would they fare in an all-out death match against:
- 100 zombies?
- 100 humans?
- 100 soldiers?
