Course I got it
Queen for a soundtrack....
flash...
epic excellent.
Hell...
I got the original flash gordon black and white serials too.
How can I work and watch?
If I don't have music cranked up ..or my collection of music vids for that matter...
I have my classic and fav shows or movies on tap...
As far as the "how" goes...
easy ...my good friend dave...easy...
as in easy chair...lay-z-boy in fact.
an old beater of mine here in a small section of one of my shops..
See with alot of carving ..the grunt work ...not the fine finesse (with which I use more exacting jewelers tools) work...I utilize high speed rotary tools. ranging from 1000's of rpms to 10's of thousands of rpms...also some air driven rotaries...beastly beasts which run up into the 100 000 rpm ranges (vaporize-stone-into-airborne-dust-on-contact kinda speed) ..the slowest I use can bury themselves deep into flesh in a heartbeat if you aren't focused. Anyway...so it is about focus, control, strength, hand-eye coordination, steady hand and sharp eye...can't hold a 3-7lb weight in your hand delicately forever....no matter how strong or tough a person think they are...unless you have good support...head, neck, back, arm, wrist support...and even then...best I can do is about 12-14 hours straight before my hand starts cramping up...(I do take a few min. break on the hour) anyway..I do best with music ...audio books and good movies...gets me in the "zone" so-to-speak...it's like meditation...my church I s'pose...I watch and rewind if I get to concentrating too intensely on my work. Carving works better that way...I don't think about the time it is taking nor the intricacy involved...I'm just "there"
And for that...well I don't want to get dust in any of my electronics...
so on a section of one of my work benches meant for more delicate work I have this cute lil monitor set up temporarily...I did have my wall projector set up...need a new bulb now though..just burned it out ...
and inside the cabinets I have one of my toshiba portege's a m700...wifi'd... bt'd ...and surround sound / vhs / dvd player hooked up and a 3 tb storage...and all the necessary remote control....above and below in said cabinets (I couldn't fit it all in one pic) and all around the shop are the surround sound speakers, sub woofers and woofers...so whatever I'm watching / listening to is immersive...
Really need the audio distraction...
sometimes I wear background-noise cancelling headphones so all I hear is the music or film instead.
Gotta realize man I NEED the audio distraction...years of hearing high pitched motors whining away is not only enough to lose your upper range hearing ...if not your hearing completely..but as well...year after year of that noise would drive the best c-c-cc-c-razyyyyy man.
So yeah I don't mess around with my hearing...hell I play instruments...heard of blind harpists before ...but never deaf ones...
so I take that stuff serious ...
And of course the bathroom, fridge (esp. for beer and snacks) is only a step away...and that is how I also keep abreast of tmo pretty much daily if not hourly...particularly when I'm at this internet accessible shop of mine....It is the most convenient shop for me since it is attached to the house...makes commuting bearable...
Now back to the movie and work...and where did I put my safety gear? specifically my beer helmet... that is...
It's after lunch here...so coffee time is done and the temperature is gettin' up there...soooo...it's beer weather again!....woo-hoo!
