Asarum canadense, wild ginger. That's the flower which sits well below the leaves at ground level. Sort of looks (and smells) like a rotting fruit to attract the ants and other crawling bugs that polinate it.

The intersection of two of my hobbies: growing N. American native plants and photographing them.
