That's so true and actually for me the design/choice of bands lacks any logic. Technically I see no reason why the PLS8-E can't do 850/1900 GSM. For all I can guess it's just a question of the "rules" implemented in modem firmware, so I still keep a little bit of hope for a firmware update fixing that issue.
