Sooooo...
um...
for starters just a pic indeed is worth a 1000 words...
soooo...
Tell me... is what is wrong with western culture.... disabled and severely physically challenged people having the same rights as any other person ...what is wrong?
The battles and odds they must face?
Frankly...fame-wise ...and comparing the 2 ...one is near (some feel way past) genius and the other's fame a product of the evolving nature of a communication medium..in particular content...
I don't think they are exactly on the same page...
past the fact that both would not be looked upon in any kinder a light in any other culture. Odds are both would have died quite young...nor would their voices have been heeded and listened to any more in any other culture...most likely less...
If what is wrong with western culture pertaining to these two gentlemen is concerning their recent statements that both would seek method's of "Self Determination" the ability, desire and right to end their lives on their own terms...Well...yes ...western culture on the whole has a ways to go on the topic...but it is being discussed....the fact they are both alive and both are speaking about it..tells me A- western culture is mature enough to allow the conversation ...whereas many other cultures see "self determination" in a very religious or pariah-esque light to say the least... B- they have enjoyed the ability to live long enough to speak about possibly wanting to end their lives...due in great part TO western medicine and western compassion and western ethics.
I could go on...

Now don't get me wrong here...I am personally of the camp where everyone should have the right to determine their own fate...just within the last 6 years I lost 3 people close to me to cancer ...they all new and thought they could persevere and pass on naturally..unfortunately all 3 were doing abrupt about-faces and wishing they had chosen otherwise...I am a firm adherent of "the right to die" camp...even still..there is a natural built-in deeply ingrained human negative response to it...past all culture... Also there is the economic issues , politic issues and moral issues at stake ...here in Canada we have been struggling with this quicksand-topic for a long time...for example...sure it is important that people are treated fairly, humanely and compassionately ...when they get sick or hurt or old ...with such rights to die...many could and more specifically would take advantage of that..for economic reasons masquerading as compassion.....it could go from compassion to euthanasia very quickly and the value of human life with it....oh my yes...it is an absolute quagmire...

Likewise ...I am no huge lover of western culture.....and when I mean western culture I refer in specific to whomsoever is holding the reigns of influence...and frankly I cannot call western culture "American" or any other nationality...it is much too big and effusive for that now.. ..and of course that is negating the presence of regional cultures inside of western civilization...which frankly have more on the ball...Looking at other cultures also...well they have their good aspects and bad in them as well...
soooo....
your picture equating to 1000 words...
I've tried to keep my response under 1000 words ( )
So a point of reference pertaining to the culture you are making a statement about ... something more to go on ...other "than" just a picture would bring some clarity to your viewpoint.
please elucidate ....
What exactly is wrong with western culture?
