Hmmm...
yeah well...he may wish and present a great case for desiring not to be born in the 1st place.
But if that concept were law...and socially accepted...
there would be a lot more infanticide...alot more "helping" people to leave this world who either have no voice to speak, or unable to speak, who have no desire to die just yet.
If his desire is that strong...he can accomplish it.
It is an easy thing to say "___ wants to die" ...
easy until you are dealing with the actual fact of it.
I've dealt with enough people dying around me...
and I'm a staunch advocate of the right of the individual...
but the moment it becomes law...real law...
the ugly ugly twisting... of the rights of the individual to "self determination" ...taken by the justification by others will commence.
Illegally we have already seen such eugenic practices... in the news over the decades .. by doctors or nurses who went too far and thought they were doing a "kindness" by unlawfully killing patients...without even the patients knowledge or consent...
What will happen when the practice of doing away with people becomes entrenched in law?
You can bet it will get abused...you can lay money on it.
It's a sure bet that the value of human life then becomes less than that of the common slug.
It would make for a wretched world... truly.
That is the danger inherent.
Allowing the "Powers that be" to start dictating the value of life ...who deserves it...who doesn't...
That is the ultimate path of what proponents who fight for the "legal right to die" ...straight to the cliff-edge for us all.
I believe in the right to "self determination" or the "right to die" ...I simply think it should not become "legislated law" ...too dangerous a precedent with a very grim future certain.
