Hmm..yeah...it will very well come to pass that we will do ourselves in via our inability to cope with proper planetary management.
We are after all on top of the food chain pyramid and hence are the most vulnerable. It won't be the possibility humans "may" go extinct...we most likely "will" unless we come up with the proverbial "Panacea for the Worlds' Pain" very quickly.
