It's no wonder they're giving it away. It seems the so called "free" upgrade is anything but free. Actually, I'm not even sure that the word "upgrade" is appropriate either. I think there's a good case to be made to say that it would be misleading in several ways to call it an upgrade.

You've got to give it to them though. That's a pretty good business strategy to release an OS version that people would loathe (Windows 8) which helps make this one, the final major release they will ever do, seem much more appealing to the unwitting public.
