Who said anything about outrage? I certainly didn't use the word you have quoted. I saw the article and it reminded me of this thread so I just thought it was worth bringing up as it highlights yet another step backwards from a user's perspective. Of course there are ways around it but that doesn't make it right or any easier to use for that matter. I don't use Windows therefore it doesn't bother me at all.

In case it wasn't clear, my comment about the "upgrade" not being free wasn't necessarily about having to pay to disable ads but was more of a generalisation about everything already mentioned in this thread. You may not be paying for Windows 10 directly out of your pocket, but by using it they sure as hell will be making money out of you, mostly at your own expense by taking away your right to privacy.
