There was discussion about Jolla already having a good hardware experience because they have released a smart phone. Today there was a news article about a Finnish company named Creoir which developed Marshall's new smart phone [in Finnish]. Here is a small snippet from the article in English:

Previously Creoir has been involved in, for example, the development Jolla phone. The company also has a strong background in history with Nokia. Through networks you penetrate to new markets, Väyrynen says.
And Digitoday has a little more [in Finnish]:

In addition to other projects Creoir also designed Jolla company's phone, whose Sailfish OS is also based in Meego, developed at Nokia. It was by no means a coincidence.

- It was only natural, because we know the people from Jolla pretty well: I had Jolla's crew as a software team, when I led the development of N9-MeeGo phone at Nokia, Väyrynen tells.
So it might be that Jolla Tablet is actually Jolla's first hardware project directly with an Asian manufacturer.

More about the company at Stuff, Engadget, Digital Trends and Creoir news page.
