Second, there's nothing wrong with off topic, so why would I "blame" anyone for it? I love OT threads and I have nothing against derailed discussions (you can find some great ones on Reddit every day, so that's why I am not that blown away by this wet-water thingy), but don't pretend it's on topic, when it's not.

There's nothing wrong with this thread being OT, just like there's nothing wrong with this thread being moved to the appropriate forum. No controversy, no censorship, just moving the thread where it belongs and where everyone who loves participating in OT can find it.
Try to remove a popular thread on reddit and see how that goes, /r/undelete, /r/censorship, /r/conspiracy, you name it (then again, only certain themed threads end up there regularly interestingly)
