This is as likely to happen as the NSA to stop listening to your phone calls and filter that money to NASA instead. Face it, outside of Apple (and arguably Microsoft with the Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4) no company really has shown that a tablet was the way to make money. Nobody really needs a tablet. Good marketing and expanded use cases can show many the way. But a tablet is still a fringe device that's not as necessary as a computer or cellphone (today). Since we're talking whimsical machinations; I'd rather see Intel or Qualcomm pitch to become hardware manufacturers and assist on the delivery of the tablet and (an updated) phone respectively and get their newer chips into these phones as a way to show how an efficiently written OS can make the world of difference in the mobile sector.
