Ive seen them everywhere listed as GSM compatable, but nope its not true...There seems to be tons of confusion on this matter with the NITs

With a bluetooth phone the gsm radio would be redundant anyway, altho gprs/edge are pretty slow, but there is hope I'm waiting for Tmob to roll out 3g in my area (philly metro) this month or next with other nets to follow after the big metros are done, it just may give me another reason to buy a new phone, but I just read that TMOB wont be using the "standard" freq for its 3g net, so once again we yanks are doing our own thing while the rest of the world uses a standard(ie ntsc, 120v power, no metric, etc)
I use Sony Ericsson fones and there is a big hacking community built up around them and some of the older phones seem to have scripts available to change the freqs they use so there maybe hope...
