My 770 came from a CompUSA in Texas. A friend, who was on a business trip, picked it up for me, and brought it back to Canada.

I would have been SOL if I couldn't get it to work. Like you I was pretty worried about it.

It's unbelievable that brand new units could be put out on the market with such a severe issue. Maybe it's their way of weeding out the casual users from the true fans ;-)

I assume this is a recent development, as opposed to being around from the initial release back in the Fall. Therefore, I wonder if Nokia changed a one of the hardware components in our new units that is incompatible with the firmware, or was our stock/out-of-the-box firmware glitchy?
