Because they say so, directly and indirectly. And it makes sense for them to try to solve the tabletgate, just to survive as some other people have also said here. I don't see malice in their communication and actions but I see incompetence and not understanding for example how they should communicate with their community. Some of that incompetence is them being startup and very small compared to their goals. I would call it pioneer spirit. It also got the mankind to the moon, but the way to there was very rocky and left behind many skeletons. Same here.
