/sbin/shutdown -h now

yeah, good point and probably right...as I recall you are right that 'halt' doesn't go through a proper shutdown as, well, 'shutdown' would. Then again I don't remember if 'shutdown' even exisited on the old Solaris base SparcStation II

Still, I agree completely prob not a great idea in the long term. Not like the power button is too far to reach for...

And yeah, the power issue...it just struck me as funny all of a sudden that even if I went to the effort of convincing the CDU680 to work, I would likely get a lot better battery life using wifi, connection the EVDO router instead. Still it's nice to have the OTG adapter. But to be honest I have never even owned a thumb drive. I know, what a doofus. I just don't venture to a bunch of different PC's where I am unsure what sort of card reader, if any, it might have. Still it is nice to know I could add that 3rd layer of memory (just storage of course) to the system. Now gimme a 32gb thumb drive and we can talk. hehehehe...I could keep my whole library of Audible books on it...and throw in a few movies too. Given the arm and leg required for 32gb SDHC cards right now the 32gb thumb drives seem cheap in comparison.
