@juiceme, I admire your idealism but, "impossible for a FOSS project to die"? Seriously? I have long lost the count of applications I could no longer use because the developer got bored and lost interest.
I know, you will retort with the usual " yes, but, free, someone else, bla bla bla". Well let me tell you something. I know that
in theory
someone else may pick it up and continue. But how often does it
really
happen? In the real, non-cloud-cuckoo-land idealistic world? In my experience, hardly ever. There are more dead FOSS projects than weeds in my garden. To any sensible approximation,
all
FOSS projects are dead.
The same thing can of course happen in the non-FOSS world. But at least that world is not full of BS and does not pretend that everything is rosy and we all live in a harmony singing kumbaya.
