I KNOW !!!
right?!?!?!
Tom was the best...
he was a great madcap Doctor Who...The quintessential Doctor Who...
although I did like the very first Doctor as well...
and the 2nd Doctor...
But other than those 2 and Tom ...
it wasn't until the Doctor Who resurrection with Christopher Eccleston ..
and the subsequent Doctors ...
that I appreciated their approach to the character...
Good writers..and good actors as the Doctor help...
I remember as a kid watching my first doctor who shows...
on our public tv (TVO TVOntario ....the original knowledge network
...Doctor Who ...and Elwy Yost's "Magic Shadows" ..a movie segment of the tv channel ..Elwy was the Professor of film and Media at university down in toronto..his introductions were always interesting...he managed to get interviews...sit down interviews with hard to talk to actors...and his wrap up at the end of a film was great...but it was the haunting music and animation intro to "Magic Shadows" that gripped me more than anything..
Magic Shadows being the saying of how the play of shadows danced when seen for the first time ..on film...back when film was just being seen for the first time..
here is the intro to that classic old show "Magic Shadows"...just gotta hear and see it again...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG9AZm1gPDY
and the outro at the show's end...

I must admit that the 60's 70's and 80's had some really diverse hidden gems of film and television ...
a lot of creativity on a shoestring budget was done...
anddddd...then it all went to crap.
now we have great effects ...and better acting out of digital effects...than we do out of actors...
and the whole of it pandering to what sells ...so there isn't a loss...
safe bets...and terrible remakes....or take-offs...
