Great news! I finally managed to get canola2 installed!
I ran apt-get update and xterm listed the dependencies that were broken or needed to be dealt with. Then I ran apt-get -f to remove the litte buggers, which it did. And finally I ran apt-get install canola2 which worked! HOORAY!
I had forgotten I had disabled the non-nokia repositories which in turn allowed me to complete the steps above.
Now I do not need to reflash!
