Before doing those tests, I had a look in the server log.
Profile = Raster+Vector, Storage=SD card.

Server log looked like this:

Not sure how to interpret that. Looks a bit like startup glitches, which are eventually resolved - but then again, no maps showed. Not even the world overview.
