It may be worth posting a URL or a product code so people can see what it is. That may give someone enough information for an, "Aha!" moment on what software checks could be made. Presumably the different buttons use a different resistance when pressed which would explain why at least one works (rather than none at all).

I would guess only new software would recognize it though.

I'd be interested in a multi button headset, on the n810 I'm not fond of the button placement so a wired remote for say FBReader would be awesome.
