I have EXACTLY the same issue with Logitech mm50 speakers and my N800. Haven't heard it with anything else connected to it including my N95 and laptop. Headphones sound fine as do some portable JBL speakers. Interestingly, I do hear a little hiss if I put my ear up to the built-in speakers.
