install the flash wizard if it is not
>go through the flash wizard till it is looking for the 770
>plug in the USB cable
>plug in the power (while holding the home key)
this will cause the 770 to power up and hopefully go into flash mode instead of charge mode. Once you get the USB icon on the 770 try removing the power, it should stay on.
