Truth be told...
personal computing and mobile devices for people since...well...
since the first home computers came out..has been way beyond religious in nature for people.
handling another's system is tantamount to seeing a ladies ankles in the Victorian era.
It just isn't done.
It is the new "nakedness" ..the new nudity...
the new taboo.
It goes well beyond religion I believe.

What we have here at Maemo I think is religion.
it is an ethical and moral belief system ..

What closed systems have is a cult.
Whose followers believe in Apple or M$ or even the lesser of the evils ...Android ...
who espouse the gospel of:
- "It is the "latest" ...therefore it must be more advanced ...ergo I am ahead of the curve"
- "It is such and such Brand ...therefore it has value and worth ..therefore it is more advanced...ergo my child is ahead of the curve..and has an edge over the other kids in school"
- "It must be good since 1/3 of the population use Brand X...therefore it has value and worth ..ergo I am still ahead of the curve.."
- "According to the proceeding... competing Brands are my enemy and their followers have less intelligence..other options aren't options since my Brand holds key market ground and shares in this civilization..ergo..I and mine will always be ahead of the curve."
- "I and mine are not smart enough or do not have enough time to think about choice../ Choice means I have to make decisions and that is tiring...ergo ..I want someone else to choose serious life changing choices for me and I will follow blindly...I still have freedom..I just choose freely not to use it."

All of that is extremely fervent belief out of the Brand followers.
It is far far beyond religion and is truly cult like.

and say that the forum's os sucks and such and such is better.
