I'd suggest you to reread this thread from

As Koiruus explained, you should search for an IP for google which suits your geographic area (more or less) and put it into /etc/hosts but don't delete the first line, it is your device!
Your /etc/host could look like this:

127.0.0.1 Nokia-N900 localhost 74.125.140.192 supl.google.com
About navigation setup, you wrote supple.google.com. It is not "suple" but "supl". I guess it was a typo in your message.
