Thank you very much for your responses. Something strange happened. Going to Poland, the Nokia N9 was able to connect to Orange with 3G just fine. Coming back to Germany, it’s no connecting to 2.5G, which it didn’t before. (I though O₂ is going to decommission 3G at the end of 2021, but it looks like they did it earlier (July 1st to November), so I didn’t test before my trip to Poland.)

As 3G worked with Orange in Poland, I points to some error/misconfiguration of the O₂ infrastructure in Germany.
