Two things happen: its the programmers preference of how the application should be rather than thinking like a normal user... or its just a plain mess of a port.

I think the former is a lot more prevalent. Most of the poor ports I've seen were listed as incomplete/alpha with intent to improve. Whether or not that improvement materialised, the warning was there.

As for the spoon-face-stabbing, some of them are probably that way, for newbies. Annoying and time-wasting, but no serious risk of injury.

Edit: Try Quiver? I'd have placed it in the top tier of user-friendly and polished apps.
