Don't know if I can judge fairly as I have a 770 (although I have tried an 800). Well, I can judge the book reading, as I doubt that changed which I found smoother on the iPod, mainly because the font smoothing was better on the eyes.
The video watching is orders of magnitude better on the iPod, but maybe the 800 is orders of magnitide better than the 770, I don't know.
