I just read a post about the n810 and it seemed to be a simmilar problem, so I can say its fairly safe to say its something to do with your charger not working the way its intended to work. Also we all know a bad battery does wonders

for a perfectly fine device.
I don't understand what your trying to accomplish by removing all the removable parts of the n800, SD's don't make a difference, current only runs through them when your device is on, Im gonna go look in the spec sheets and verify this, im pretty sure im right. And the battery, since its a L-Polymer or Ion, can't remember which, but it could have effect on the battery to let it sit w/o having to power anything for 10 min. Otherwise I just see the faith + remove stuff idea is sort of wasted time. Time only can be a factor for the batt...
