I am talking about the firmware update on anything, computers, phones, routers, whatever. The iPod certainly gets a lot of them.
Yes, both the iPod and the nokia can do all the stuff I mentioned an more (well, apart from the shop application, as I didn't get it written there). I use my nokia with my n73 phone, it basically gives me a big screen to browse the web on (and it is a bit easier than the phone). Carrying two devices is a bit of a pain (yes, I would like a nokia nxxx with a built in sim).
I have never carried two batteries for any device apart from my camera, and can't see that changing. I don't mind having the charger in the car, but I don't consider walking around with a spare battery on me a viable option (for me), so the battery issue was never that for me, I don't change batteries. I don't know why apple don't just make it thicker and put a bigger battery in - I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Actually, when it comes down to it, what really bugs me is that considering the technology we had > 10 years ago, it seems like everyone just gave up trying.
Why don't we have batteries that last the day? Why don't we have mobile operating systems designed to be just that.

I like the nokia hardware, but the operating system really does seem like they couldn't be bothered to think about the problem.
